Thanks him for his recognition of his ‘friendly feelings towards the Society’, and declares that Murphy’s ‘fraternal relations’ with his (Gaffney’s) priests was a source of comfort to him.

Remarks that he has talked the matter over with Fr Ryan who advised convalescing for another month at home and to go to Tullabeg for another month to prepare for his examination in Philosophy and to then return to Bonn.
