In consideration of the expense incurred by the lessee company in the erection of the eight messuages upon the above property, and of the several rents and sums of money reserved and made payable in the present lease and the covenants and agreements made by the lessee company and conditions, the lessor, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the will of 20 May 1904 by the Right Honorable Sidney, late Earl of Pembroke and Montgomery, and by the Settled Land Acts of 1882 to 1890, and with the consent of Lord Herbert, demises unto the lessee company the above property to hold from 29 September 2019 for the term of 72 years, paying the yearly rent of £126, and also paying during the said term the several additional contingent rents or weekly sums set down in the lease. A file relating to the paintings in Rathfarnham Castle. Includes letters relating to the ceiling paintings by Angelica Kauffman and new decorative works. Includes letters from Joshua Clarke, J Clarke & Sons, Stain glass manufacturers & Church decorators, 33 North Frederick Street, Dublin regarding the ceiling painting by 'my lady artist' (Miss Crilly, later known as Margaret Clarke) (10 September 1913). Only one painting by Margaret Crilly was accepted, which disappointed Joshua Clarke. Initially Miss Crilly rejected the offer of £7 10 shlllings per painting. Joshua Clarke persuaded her to accept £7, but by this stage, it was too late. She received £10 for her painting and Cambridge & Co. Ltd, Dublin were engaged (October 1913), and agreed a price of £35 for the series of nine painting. The artist Patrick Tuohy completed the ceiling paintings.

Medal of the Order of the Crown (Ordre de la Couronne), class Officier, conferred by the King of Belgium to Irish Fr Provincial Thomas V Nolan SJ. Includes official document concerning the decoration (6 May 1919) and letter from the Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs (22 May 1919). The medal in case, with name of Fernanrd Heremans, Schaerbeek, is a five-armed white enamel and silver-gilt Maltese cross with silver-gilt graduated rays between the arms, on green enamel oval laurel wreath suspension; the face with a gilt-edged circular central blue enamel medallion bearing the gilt crown of Belgium; the reverse with a gilt-edged circular central blue enamel medallion bearing the cipher of King Leopold II, founder of the Order. Medal given by King of Belgium in recognition for the work of Irish Jesuits in helping Belgian refugees in Ireland during the First World War.
