Relates the story of a young novice who went blind and was cured after praying to the Blessed Virgin. (In Italian). A handwritten note in English by ‘J.F.M.’ (possible Fr James Murphy SJ, Irish Provincial) states that the novice was later dismissed from the Society after becoming ‘a regular “ecstatic”’. (In Italian).

Remarks 'In 1760 this mission had in Paris a capital of £1000 ster. including the deposits of individuals and what belonged to different residences. By the persecution which ensued the whole was nearly despaired of when by Fr Crookshank's activity and cleverness about half that sum was recovered and transmitted to Ireland where Mr Ward placed it as occasions presented.'

File of drawings of the building plans for the proposed additions to St Ignatius College, Galway. Includes letter from J. A. Kenny & Partners, Consulting Engineers, Eglington street, Galway returning the drawings to Fr Fergus O'Keeffe SJ (Rector) St Ignatius College, Galway (15 October 1970). The drawings of the ‘new’ community consist of: ground floor plan, first floor plan, top floor plan and elevations. Premises are surrounded by William street to the south and Raleigh row to the north. Refers to the Bank shares remarking ‘I had a note from Fr. Greene desiring to have the Bank Shares transferred to Railway Stock...I am quite willing that he should do with them whatever he thinks best.’ (15 February 1882, 3pp).

Notes by Fr Fergal McGrath SJ (Province Archivist from 1975 to 1986) on ‘Manuscript of Poems on St. Thecla by Gerard Manley Hopkins.’ ‘This manuscript is written on the inner pages of a double foolscap sheet, the Latin poem on the left hand, the English on the right hand page…Both poems are in G.M. Hopkins’s handwriting, but not [signed] or dated.’ (Notes form the body of a letter sent to Dr Peter Beal (Index of English [Literary Manuscripts Series], University of Leeds) in September 1975). Includes notes on the appearance of the manuscript and lists the corrections made on the manuscript. Both poems appear in 'The Poems of Gerard Manley Hopkins', 4th edition, 1967.

Nicolls died without issue and his estate passed to his brother Archibald Dowdell Nicolls. The latter also died without issue and the estate was inherited by Fr John Errington SJ).
