Remarks 'I have just returned from the court after hearing the end of "the speech" and my head is so full I can hardly speak or write...I feel I can never thank God enough that I have lived to see this day. My Darling has had a fearful task to accomplish and he has done it well...' Continues '...I believe he has raised the Irish cause to a position which it never before held in the eyes of the people of England.' Describes the packed court room and the congratulations she received after the speech 'Dear old Mrs Gladstone caught my hand in both of hers and said "it was inspiration; I believe it has all been done by prayers" - just as a Catholic might say.'

Finlay assigns three plots of ground unto the trustees, along with the premises currently occupied by the Dublin Food Supply Company Ltd., to hold for various terms as given in the three indentures to which the plots are subject to, subject to a number of conditions, including one that the Dublin Food Supply Company shall ‘carry on business solely for the purpose of supplying to the poor, all or any manner of household supplies at such a price and no greater over and above the wholesale price as will cover rents and other costs of distribution.’

The contents of this collection represent the papers of the O'Hagan family. Thomas O'Hagan (1812-1885), was the first Lord O'Hagan and twice Lord Chancellor of Ireland. His daughter from his first marriage Frances Mary O'Hagan married Judge John O'Hagan (1822-1890), in 1865. John O'Hagan was the chief commissioner of the Land Court in Ireland. A few years after his death in 1897, his wife, Frances O'Hagan, joined an enclosed order - the Franciscan Convent of the Perpetual Adoration, Drumshambo, County Leitrim. She died in 1910. Genl’s Gruber’s assurance’ he has educated ‘many Eng & Irish to form a future British [province]’. Refers to Archbishop Troy’s interference some years before, which resulted in an order from Cardinal Michele di Pietro that Fr Callaghan was bound to leave to Troy all the property of the extinct Society.
