Continues ‘It will make things smoother if you mention in the petition...that this is not a question of a new foundation but the establishment of two houses rendered advisable by legal changes which involved the removal from University College.’. In a postscript marked ‘Confidential’ the Archbishop refers to the Chair of Logic. Remarks that he thought Fr Maher was going forward and ‘On that account I did not regard Shine’s candidature as a real one...It is said there will be a veto from Cork against any but an O.P.!’.
