Includes a letter from Archbishop Adam Kozłowiecki, Archdiocese of Lusaka, Ridgeway, Lusaka, Northern Rhodesia, Africa to Irish Fr Provincial asking permission for Fr Coyne to come out to Africa to look after his archives and to be his companion '...I feel in great need of somebody older, detached from my daily battles and with good sense and experience who would be able to help me personally in both my decisions and my spiritual life.' (15 May 1963, 1p). Includes a letter from Fr Coyne, 85 Eglinton Road, Dublin to Irish Fr Provincial concerning Monsignor A. O'Rahilly an ex Jesuit of the Irish Province. Remarks that he visited Mgr. O'Rahilly and '...I ventured to sound him on the subject of his dying as a Jesuit...' Concludes 'You might...think it worth while to meet (him)...and sound him on his desire to re-enter with us...his personal worth is...of the highest. His former allegiance to our Province as well as his continued admiration through the years of its men and its achievements might suggest to Superiors the "congruity" of his readmittance to its ranks in the closing years of his life (24 July 1969, 2pp).

– letter from Fr Sheil to the Irish Fr Provincial seeking permission to go to Spain to study Spanish missions in order to adapt certain practices for use in Britain (7 September. 1961, 4pp);
– copy of a ‘Report on Missions in Spain’ following a visit by Frs Shiggins and Sheil who attended five missions around the country (n.d., 4pp);
– letter from Fr Sheil to the Irish Fr Provincial in which he discusses certain Spanish customs which could be used on Missions in Britain. He preaches well and his musical voice was a help to O'Beirne and I. I need not tell you that O'Beirne preaches very well, and is a wonderful companion on a mission. Jesuit involvement as chaplains in VEC (Vocational Educational Committee) Colleges, Dublin can be traced to the early 1940’s when a number of Irish Jesuits taught religion in technical schools in Dublin. From 1951, when Fr John McAvoy SJ (1908-1983) was appointed Spiritual Director of the Centre of Technology in Bolton Street, Jesuits have worked as chaplains at the College of Commerce, Rathmines and at the Colleges of Technology, Bolton Street and Kevin Street.
The material consists of documents which outline the establishment of the College of Technology at Bolton Street; attempts to establish a student centre (1965); chaplains’ correspondence with Fr Provincial on the status and role of chaplains: problems and issues (1965-1973), ‘John Austin House’, 135 North Circular Road (1974) and a proposal to set up Jesuit house in Dominick Street (1976); Fr Provincial’s nominations for chaplains (1968-1976); Archbishop of Dublin’s Planning Commission for V.E.C.
