Includes catalogue to 174 photographs exhibited. 'The Day Before Yesterday' became a six-part series which traced the origins of the Irish state through the photographs of Fr Browne. Letters from Rose (Gayner, nee Gwynn) (Fr Gwynn’s cousin) following the illness and death of Fr Gwynn’s sister, Sheila Moorehead, in December 1981. Includes references to a portrait of their ‘Aunt May’ and a family story about Walter Osborne (Fr Gwynn’s godfather): ‘He was apparently rather dominated by a powerful mother but there was an understanding that he would marry Aunt Lucy. However before the understanding could become an engagement he caught a bad cold, and died of pneumonia’ (8 February 1982, 4pp).

Encloses a copy of Mrs. Moorehead’s will dated 8 November 1978, in which she bequeaths £1,000 to Fr Gwynn; an oil painting of ‘Cattle in Berkshire’ by Walter Osborne and the water-colour sketch of Fr Gwynn as a boy, also by Osborne, to the National Gallery; a lithograph of her grandfather William Smith O'Brien; a poem of his written in Kilmainham Jail and a signed poem by Thomas Francis Meagher, to the Municipal Art Gallery (5pp).

Notes on Killiney Castle and Druid Lodge, Killiney, County Dublin by Fr Fergal McGrath SJ, (former Irish Province Archivist) referring to a letter he received from Miss Mary Purcell, 32 Gardiner Place, Dublin 1 (whose letter is also contained in this file). Fr McGrath traces the use of Killiney Castle by the Society of Jesus (nd, 1p). Includes a letter from Mary Purcell to Fr McGrath concerning the sale of Killiney Castle to the St John of God Brothers, France. Another property is also referred to by Miss Purcell who discovered this reference in a minute of a council meeting of the Brothers of St John of God but it is unclear if this other property also belonged to the Society of Jesus. The St John of God Brothers did not continue negotiations with the Society (18 August 1977, 2pp).
