◆ HIB Menologies SJ :
While still a young man he was sent to Dublin to learn tailoring. he was a Postulant at Clongowes in 1815, where he spent time as a tailor and in charge of the clothes department.

He then Ent at Tullabeg and was admitted with Brothers Cleary, Egan, Nelson, Plunkett, Sherlock and Thomas Devitt. He spent the rest of his life tailoring at Tullabeg, where he was also Sacristan. It was in his role in the Church as Sacristan that he was met by many people, encouraging all to a better life, especially to Confession.
He had a long illness and he died quite peacefully 11 January 1870 at Tullabeg, and he is buried there at the Old Rahan Cemetery.
John Grene wrote of him “Vir bonus, simplex ac devtione plenus”.

Note from John Cleary Entry :
He took his First Vows at Clongowes 02 February 1819, and Charles Aylmer said the Mass. There were six others with him : Brothers Egan, Nelson, Plunkett, Mulligan, Bennett and Sherlock, all who persevered happily in the Society to the end.

Note from John Nelson Entry :
He took his Final Vows 02 February 1838 along with eleven others, being the first to whom Final Vows were given since the Restoration in Ireland. The others were : Philip Reilly of “Palermo fame”; Nowlan, Cleary, Mulligan, Michael Gallagher, Pexton Sr, Toole, Egan, Ginivan, Patrick Doyle and Plunkett.
